Threats at Sochi expose “a larger agenda,” says intelligence source

Everybody in the security services seems to be getting their knickers in a twist about the threat of terrorism at the winter Olympics. The most frequently expressed view is that any outrage will not be caused by “crazy Islamic homicide bombers” as the media and many political pundits want us to believe. The expectation is that any attack will be a tactic to advance a more sinister agenda for the Middle East.

Syria Peace Summit Was Just A Regime Change Push By Western Warmongers

So it turns out the much acclaimed Syria peace conference was just a stunt staged by the Western powers to revive their efforts to start a war of regime change with the aim of pushing out the secularist dictator Assad and replacing him with a vital – organ noshing theocracy.

If it had succeeded in or even come close to hoodwinking Syria’s allies, Russia, China and Iran, the ensuing military operation could have brought down the government’s of the FUKUS axis, where voters are sick of funding other people’s wars – well except for the leftie hypocrites of course who are so pacifistic and anti war, they would support the bombing and shelling with depleted uranium of an entire nation “on humanitarian grounds.”

Sane people say Syria is not worth one western life.

Yes, like those same terrorists who happen to have flooded into Syria over the last two and a half years.

Here’s where the super-spin cycle begins. In order to try and conceal the fact that the Saudis and Qataris have been bank-rolling some of the most savage Jihadi mercenary fighters the world has ever seen in Syria, spin doctors have come up with this latest bit of counter-propaganda:

The didn’t get their war back in September – despite the embarrassing western effort to lie and fabricate WMD chemical weapons ‘evidence’ and other follies over social media. But the Axis of Washington-London-Paris haven’t given up on their primary goal.

Told You So, Wind Turbines Are Shoddy, Short – life Crap

You know how they sold us wind turbines (well they didn’t sell the idea to some of us who understand the engineering, we were just called swivel eyed nut jobs and told to fuck off)An article at Billo The Wisp blog, if confirmed, will bear out those of us who told you Wind Turbines were just a scam aimed at letting the trougher fathers and father-in-laws of certain politicians keep their piggy snouts in the never ending swill of taxpayers money.

“Turbine gearbox failures apparently happen typically after 5-7 years rather than the 20 years that we are normally led to believe they last for ( . Moreover, their failure can be completely catastrophic, leading to the destruction of the whole turbine” Wind Turbines, the ghost in the gearbox – billo the wisp. )

Billo has discovered that a group of US scientists commissioned by Washington to look into the problem, have as yet failed to come up with any reason for the trubines falling short of expectations or propose any solution since they started work in 2007. Can’t see what science has to do with it myself, wouldn’t they be better employing mechanical engineers?

Imagine how you would feel if you paid £25,000 ($40,000) for a car and it’s engine failed after 30,000 miles. So why do we accept this crap just because something has an “Approved by scientists and politicians” label stuck on it.

Nobel Peace Prize winner protests ‘killer robots’ — Don’t let SkyNet activate

In a recent interview with RT, Nobel Peace Prize winner and political activist Jody Williams explained the dangers “killer robots” pose on society.

From sub-sonic super drones to micro-robots “the size of a mosquito”, humans now have to worry about artificial life forms around them, even killer ones.

In a jaw dropping admission, Williams talked about how a beta micro insect drone that can come into your room, spy on you, inject you with poison, then kill you undetected.

You think it is science fiction stuff? You need to read the article “Human Rights Group Seeks Ban On Killer Robots” where Ms Williams’ views are explored fully.

The article cites a report Human Rights Watch co-authored with Harvard Law School in November of 2012, a fully autonomous machine that could select and fire upon a target selected of its own volition could be available within 20 years, if not sooner.

That report, entitled “Losing Humanity: The Case Against Killer Robots,” outlines the legal, ethical and policy concerns surrounding the development of self-directed weaponry. While in certain contexts advanced weaponry already possesses some semblance of “intelligence,” such as guided missiles or drones capable of adapting to battlefield conditions, present technology still requires human input, and in that sense involves basic humanitarian law.

“Modern automobiles are logging tremendous amounts of information every single second they’re being put to use, and a senior executive at the Ford Motor Company says car manufacturers have access to every last piece of it.

At the CES electronic trade show in Las Vegas this week, the global vice president for Ford’s marketing and sales division opened up about just exactly how much data is being collected by his company’s latest line of smart cars.

“We know everyone who breaks the law, we know when you’re doing it. We have GPS in your car, so we know what you’re doing,” Ford’s Jim Farley told a Vegas crowd on Wednesday, according to Business Insider reporter Jim Edwards.”

So what can we do? How about this for starters …

We can go like Cuba and all dive fifty year old cars or …

Find the GPS gadget. It will usually be underneath the car or under the bumper (aka fender) but possibly inside. They are most often small rectangular boxes. If you cannot visually locate the tracking unit installed in your car, get help from a bug-detector device. This works by detecting the radio frequency transmission coming from the GPS device and alerting you to it. They are quite expensive but good value if they save you the cost of a divorce 🙂

Get the box open and and remove the battery thus depriving the processor of its power source. This will not work on all models, some take power from the car’s battery. For most manufacturers models it is the easiest way to disable the vehicle’s GPS system.

If you can’t disable it by removing the battery, unplug and remove GPS box. If you can see how the GPS device is fixed to the vehicle it is safe to remove it. Sometimes the GPS system is attached magnetically, in which case you can just pull the device off the vehicle.

Simples.

Alternatively, if you want to be able to track your car but do not want Ford, Toyota or General Motors tracking your actions, you can buy a GPS tracker defence device. These are available online from companies in the United Kingdom and Europe; can’t say if they are available in the United States.

Plug the tracker defence into your car’s 12-volt lighter receptacle.

Turn on the device. It prevents the tracking unit installed in your car from sending signals to the GPS satellite.

Thus when you are not in the car you can take the GPS blocker with you and your car will be trackable if stolen, but while you are in the car, you can block GPS. Ain’t technology wonderful?

That is general advice of course but now this is out there will soon be plenty of websites with model – specific instructions.

Science Guy To Debate With Creationist

The former children’s television host and outspoken critic of creationist teaching will discuss whether the Bible-based version of Earth’s origins is a viable model Feb. 4 at the museum in Petersburg, Kentucky.

The debate starts at 7 p.m., and tickets will cost $25.

Ham, the president and CEO of Answers in Genesis, said he was excited to face off against Nye.

“It’s quite rare these days for such a well-known evolutionist to publicly debate a creationist – so we do expect a lot of media interest,” Ham said on his Facebook page.

But not everyone is thrilled by the idea.

Matt Young, blogging at The Panda’s Thumb, urged Nye to reconsider his participation, saying that it legitimized creationism.

“There is nothing to debate, and a ‘debate’ with Mr. Nye will only give Mr. Ham credibility that he does not deserve and increase not only his visibility but also his ability to attract investors,” Young wrote.

The blogger noted the example of Holocaust scholar Deborah Lipstadt, who has said she refuses to participate in events with Holocaust deniers.

“I sometimes bowdlerize that to ‘I do not debate liars,’ and it is a policy I recommend to anyone who is tempted to ‘debate’ a creationist,” Young wrote. “Whether you win or lose, you will convince no one and will only add to the prominence of your opponent, who can now say, ‘See, I debated a prominent scientist; I must be taken seriously now.’”

I have read through the comments on this thread and can’t see why this raises such debate. Looking at it from a social perspective it would appear that the story in Genesis of how it all came into existence is no different from that which science describes (God according to religious texts being unknowable could be described as a singularity). True the bible refers to days but that was a bit creative but served to keep bronze age, tent dwelling goat molesters happy about the whole thing. They would have found hundreds of millions of years for each stage too difficult to comprehend.

What I find difficult to understand is how people can be so closed to the propositions put forward from each side. Absolute proof would deny faith and as we know religion relies on faith. My only argument is how a god or super-architect would design something (us) that destroyed his supposed greatest creation (us). There are creatures and diseases that rob innocent children of life, and of the ability to enjoy and wonder at what surrounds them. So why would that happen, spite? Vindictiveness? Ineptitude?

I once asked my RI teacher at school to explain why God would allow the death and suffering of innocent children in the floods of the 60’s that wiped out so many in East Pakistan, I did not get an answer that made any sense. Since then I have asked the same or similar questions of those who profess to lead on religious matters, they could not provide an answer that could explain why such things should happen. Now if they can’t explain why such fundamental things happen and how they fit into the whole argument of religion and what a deity does then how are we to listen to them argue for creationism.

I believe that every individual has the right to believe in whatever they want to as long as it doesn’t interfere with the same rights of any other individual. Believe in what you want but don’t try and foist those beliefs on others. I for one believe that we should teach as many different perspectives on this subject as possible because knowledge is power, whereas indoctrination only fosters hate and bigotry

The winner of this debate is going to be purely a matter of individual perspective so it is an exercise in futility but I would bet it will be entertaining as hell. I never understood why creationism and evolution weren’t compatible for Christians. I mean do they know how their God allegedly created the earth? Do they know how long his days were? I would think, from my unfortunate experience with the religion, that for a Christian, the height of arrogance would be to assume you know exactly how it was done. I know there would be discrepencies but they seem to be able to “prove” anything they want with the Bible depending on what they feel like on any given day so I’m sure they could figure something out to account for those.

The reason why evolution continues to be attacked is because the most fundamentalist of religious people, those who still read and believe what the bible actually says as opposed to the rest of the faithful who don’t read it and/or puck and chhose from it, realise that the truth of evolution renders the story of Adam and Eve as myth. Meaning there was no original sin, so no fall from grace, and ultimately no need for anyone to have their life sacrificed to secure forgiveness for humanity. Simplistically, Jesus’ resurection story is also rendered as myth by the truth of evolution and what that means for the foundational beliefs of christianity.

Oh, please… Consider Euclid’s postulates from which a vast plane geometry is constructed. No God or god invoked anywhere. Using this geometry great buildings were built, bridges thrown up and ships launched – and who knows what else. Then Galileo rolling balls down slopes of different angles to form dynamic physics. No God or god invoked there either. And Maxwell with his awesome laws on electromagnetism which prompted Einstein’s special relativity. At no point was a God or god assumed. All that science without a supernatural being in sight!
