quotes orwell

“the Times of the nineteenth of December had published the official forecasts of the output of various classes of consumption goods in the fourth quarter of 1983, which was also the sixth quarter of the Ninth Three-Year Plan. Today’s issue contained a statement of the actual output, from which it appeared that the forecasts were in every instance grossly wrong. Winston’s job was to rectify the original figures by making them agree with the later ones.”…George Orwell, “1984″

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed
–if all records told the same tale–then the lie passed into
history and became truth. “Who controls the past,” ran the
Party slogan, “controls the future: who controls the present
controls the past.”…George Orwell, “1984″

“Propaganda must not serve the truth, especially not insofar
as it might bring out something favorable for the opponent.”

It Look As If The Interventionists Will Get Their Global Conflict Wish

By waving through a flotilla of Iranian warships to cross the Suez Canal and dock in Syria in support of the regime, Egypt has signaled the Middle East can never be the same again. Iran, for its part, is sending an important message that neither the heightened standoff with the US nor the avalanche of Israeli threats has succeeded in brow-beating it.
– M K Bhadrakumar (Feb 21, ’12)

Ambassador M K Bhadrakumar was a career diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service. His assignments included the Soviet Union, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Germany, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Turkey

A flotilla of Iranian warships passed unhindered through the Suez Canal and docked at the Syrian port of Tartus last Saturday. Iran’s Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said the mission displays Iran’s “might” despite 30 years of relentless sanctions.

According to press agency sources the flotilla comprised the 18th Fleet of the Iranian navy. The warships will hold exercises and will “train Syrian naval forces under an agreement signed between Tehran and Damascus one year ago”.

The influential cleric and deputy chairman of the Majlis’ (parliament’s” National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Hossein Ebrahimi said:

“The presence of Iran and Russia’s flotillas along the Syrian coasts has a clear message against the United States’ possible adventurism. In case of any US strategic mistake in Syria, there is a possibility that Iran, Russia and a number of other countries will give a crushing response to the US.”

The activities of the Iranian warships at Tartus (which is also used by the Russian navy) will be keenly watched by the regional powers s uch as Turkey, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Unconfirmed reports suggest that veterans of Iran’s Qods Force (a special unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps) might be dispatched to Syria to assist the regime.

Simply put, Iran’s message to Turkey, its Arab allies (which are arming and supporting the Syrian opposition)and their covert supporter, the alleged closet Wahabi Muslim Barack Hussein Obama will be: “Brothers, if you keep fucking with us, we will fuck with you.”

This latest sant off shouls provide much food for thought, particularly for those who protested when Little Nicky Machiavelli conselled a policy of non intervention in the Arab Spring uprising. The United Nations charter does not provide for military campaigns to effect regime change for a very good reason – the new regime can and often does turn out worse than the old. So far we have sen two brutal and repressive secular dictatorships replace by even more brutal and repressive Islamic theocracies that promise to impose Sharia law and yet our leaders, let by the closet Trotskyite Barack Hussein Obama are pushing for the same negative result in Syria. With like our own national leaders the west does not need to antagonise friends like Gadaffi, Mubarak and Assad. The mostly Wahabi (fundamentalist) Arab oil monarchies too, as they gather in Tunis this coming Sunday for the first meeting of the “Friends of Syria” have plenty to think about. Kocking over dictators like Mubarak, Bren Ali and Gaddafi was kids stuff but Syria with Shi’ite Iran pluse self interested Russia and China onside is a different matter.

For Turkey, the Iranian warships have arrived in Syria at a very bad time. The Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz reported that the Syrian army had captured 40 Turkish intelligence officers involved in subversive activities and over the past week Ankara has been “conducting intensive negotiations” with Damascus to secure their freedom. Apart from Turkish forces operating in Syria it is well known that American, British and French special forces are on the ground.

Syria insists in return for the captives’ release, on Turkey ending its role in supplying Syrian rebels with American arms and ceases infiltrations into Syrian teritory. Furthermore, the Assad regime wants Iran to be the mediator.

Ha’aretz noted: Western officials fear that Iranian military presence along with Russian aid could turn Syria into a center of international friction much worse than the struggle inside Syria. They fear that the control over actions in Syria will be taken over by a Russian-Iranian “partnership” which would exclude the European Union and Turkey …

If only someone had had the balls to stand up to that egomaniacal idiot Obama all this could have been bavoided. Now it looks as if one by one, all over the middle east, the lights are going out.

Why Secularists Will Not Admit Nobody Is Forced To Pray

When I posted a deliberately over the top rant about last wek’s court case in which a leftie judge who knows less about law than he does about agenda driven politics ruled it was illegal to say prayers before concil meetings I was prompted largely by the nauseatingly smug gloating from supporters of the National Secular Society who hailed this non event as a great victory in the war against “religion, superstition and magical thinking.”

If there is one thing more repellent than a bunch of smug religionists it is a bunch of smug, secularist twats who cannot see they are turning secularism into a religion.

Well I will get around to writing an existentialist rebuttal of the “Secuarism as religion” cult’s crackpot world view sometime (and if you think existentialism is a secular philosophy try reading Soren Kirkegadd or Ludwig Wittgenstein), but for now here’s a link to an excellent article on the topic by Jennifer Lipman who as the better informed among you might have guessed is Jewish, though by her own definition something of a part time Jew.

She bases her arguement on the fact that nobody is forced to pray and not all religion is fundamentalist.

It is easy to exercise one’s right not to pray. If I can’t make an excuse to be not present, family weddings, funerals and such like, I simply don’t join in.

When I was a young knobhead (all young men are knobheads) I used to make a great show of not joining in but maturity taught me there is nothing to be gained by embarrassing everybody else. Sometimes we have to put the feelings of others ahead of our own.

It is not just religion I try to be a non participant in. When I worked for the National Nuclear Corporation in the early 1980s and had been part of the team that designed and implemented high tech systems for a new office complex we were told we would be meeting Princess Anne at the official opening.

A few days ahead of the ceremony I managed to find a very urgent reason to be at a nuclear power station a couple of hundred miles away on the day.

It’s just pointless to make waves when there is nothing to be gained.

Eurocrats are the new Bond Villains

America’s laughless election process provides a smile

American’s are an uptight, humourless lot. Oh they may tel us Brits to lighten up because we don’t like being hugged by total strangers, but they never get the joke do they.

The only time you see Americas laughing is when they have just shot somebody.

It was a pleasant surprise then to log into an American news site and read a review of the surviving candidates in the battle for nomination as the Republican candidate for the Presidential election that made me grin.

First up of the candidates under the microscope was the asset stripping, dog torturing, Mormon and current front runner Mitt Romney. The reporter said “Though he is the choice of the party hierarchy Romney cannot engage with the voters.

When he speaks it is like Mr. Spock reading a love poem, he says all the right words but can’t do the emotions.

Which is true. The Republican’s problem is none of the others can either.

Greek debt deal, Greek taxpayers must stump up for Euro folly

It seems the Euro has been saved at the expense of democracy and inndividual freedom again.

from The Daily Beast:
Greek leaders on Thursday reached a deal for deep austerity cuts, a government official has confirmed. By enacting austerity cuts, Greece is now eligible to receive bailout funds from the European Union—and thus will avoid defaulting on its debt. The deal came just hours before Greece’s financial backers were set to meet in Brussels to discuss the debt crisis. The euro and Greek stocks rose Thursday after the news of a deal broke Greece’s two major labor unions called for a 48-hour strike on Friday and Saturday against the cuts. Meanwhile, Greek unemployment rose to another new record, of 20.9 percent, in November, up from 18.2 percent in October. The average jobless rate for 17 eurozone countries edged up to 10.4 percent in November from October’s 10.3 percent.

We predicted at The Daily Stirrer some time ago the (B)euro(c)rats of Brussels, the unelected elitists who run our lives would sacrifice the future to save theie precious single nation bureaucratic dictatorship project.

The Greek population are angry and have taken to the streets to protest against being sold into slavery by their leaders. It seems we may soon be hearing little Sir Echo Cameron mimicking Obama’s calls for military intervention in Greece.
