Tom Cotton says Iran must be stopped because ‘they already control Tehran’

With guys like this running things is it any wonder the world is teetering on the brink of all out war?

US Republican Senator Tom Cotton (Arizona) on Sunday cited Iran’s control of their own capital, Tehran, as a reason that the country had to be stopped from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

In a interview on CBS, Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer pointed out that Cotton’s letter to Iran, which was also signed by 46 other Republican senators, may have undermined President Barack Obama’s ability to get a nuclear deal with Iran.

“Let’s say the deal falls through, then what?” Schieffer wondered.

Cotton replied by quoting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The alternative to a bad deal is a better deal,” the freshman senator insisted. “The Iranians frequently bluff to walk away from the table. If they bluff this week, call their bluff. Congress stands ready to impose much more severe sanctions.”

“Moreover, we have to stand up to Iran’s attempts to drive for regional dominance,” he continued. “They already control Tehran and, increasingly, they control Damascus and Beirut and Baghdad. And now, Sana’a as well.”

“They do all that without a nuclear weapon. What they would do without a nuclear weapon.”

Cotton told Schieffer that he had “no regrets at all” about sending the letter to Iran.

Not smart enough to know he’s stupid even. It fills one with confidence doesn’t it?

2015 The Story Of China, Russia, Iran and The Petrodollar Death

Not long ago as mainstream media prematurely celebrated Obama’s vicory over Putin in the Currency Wars we took a look at some economic fundamentals. Russia’s government debt totals only 13.4% of its GDP. Its budget deficit in relation to GDP is only 0.5%. If we assume a US GDP of $16.8 trillion (the figure for 2013, its $18.4 trillion today), the US budget deficit totals 4% of GDP, versus 0.5% for Russia. The Fed is essentially a private corporation owned by regional US private banks and foreign investors and institutions (including the Dutch and British monarchies would you believe?), although it passes itself off as a state institution. US publicly held debt (The Fed’s holding of US Government treaury bonds) is equal to a whopping 74% of GDP in fiscal year 2014. Russia’s is only 13.4%.

The declaration of economic war by the US and EU on Russia, via the run on the rouble and the oil futures attack, was essentially a derivatives racket. Derivatives in theory may be multiplied to infinity. Derivative operators attacked both the ruble and oil prices in order to destroy the Russian economy. The problem there is that the Russian economy is more soundly financed than America’s.

Read our economic war predictions for 2014. We will not be 100% correct and we would not even dream on trying to match our critics 110% record – of being utterly wrong in their case, but we will be around 80%ish. If our governments could get even half that, the country might have a future.

Russia throws down the gauntlet: energy supply to Europe cut off; petrodollar abandoned as currency war escalates
There are some big moves taking place on the global stage that you need to know about, as this could all lead to World War III. Yesterday Russia cut off its natural gas supply to Europe, “plunging the continent into an energy crisis ‘within hours’ as a dispute with Ukraine escalated,” the Daily Mail reported. “This morning, gas companies in Ukraine said that Russia had completely cut off their supply. Six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas shipped via Ukraine today, in a sharp escalation of …Read all

Right now the west is in big trouble, the move led by Russia and China to dump the petrodollar as global currency has provoked the Americans to lead the wesern allies into an economic war that we cannot win. Why not? One word: debt. A shooting war is the only option but it’s by no means certain the allies would win that.

US forces on nuclear “false flag” high alert

So far this is an unsubstantiated rumour. It may have some substance or it might just be propaganda for the purpose of spreading fear and panic and thus burying bad news.

“The United States is on alert and has deployed military assets to defend the Atlantic coastline from New York to Charleston from attack by a cruise type missile or low flying aircraft.

Heightened security measures began with Israel’s increasing threats against Iran but increased with the mysterious disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight 370.

Sources at the highest levels of the US military and intelligence community cite the possibility of a terror bombing, even using nuclear weapons, most likely to be submarine launched. This is what is being defended against.

However, the plot, we have been informed, was to include a seemingly hijacked airliner which would be blamed on Iranians, as stated by Joel Rosenberg while speaking with Greta van Susteren on Fox News, March 18th. Rosenberg claimed the Iranians hijacked the plane to attack Israel.

The US, however, believes someone other than Iran is planning an attack, on the US, not Israel, and planning to blame Iran.”

Just When You Thought The Threat Of War Had Gone Away

The Mexican standoff in the eastern Mediterranean goes on, with American warships pointing their guns at Syria while Russian, Iranian and Chinese warships point their weapons towards the west and the Syrian navy (a couple of blokes on lilos armed with water pistols) splash about on a beach near Antioch.

Meanwhile elsewhere Barack Obama pursues his arrested adolescent foreign policy of trying to be everybody’s best mate. He even wants the Iranian government to be his new best mates and to that end is trying to negotiate a deal to lift economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for Iran giving up its attempts to develop nuclear weapons.

Three things to be aware of here:

Iran already has nuclear weapons
Iran has weapons more destructive than nuclear devices
A similar deal with North Korea resulted in the North Koreans exploding a nuclear bomb at a test site shortly after the USA announced Fatboy Kim’s government had agreed to give up its nuclear weapons project and sanctions were lifted.

There is another thing too. Iran has lots of oil to sell and lots of money to buy armaments. American armaments manufacturers are pissed off that they can’t sell weapons to Iran while Russia and China are getting all the business.

Now here’s where things get complicated. America’s ally Israel still wants to reduce Iran to rubble. Obama’s new best mates in Iran want to reduce Israel to rubble. Obama is under pressure from the Muslim Brotherhood supporting members of his administration (a hugely disporoportionate number of Obama administration senior officials are Islamists.

America’s pro Israel lobby, AIPAC which stands for something like American Israeli Policy Advisory Committee would could just as easily be named Goldman Sachs political meddling department are not happy that Obama is sucking up to Israel’s biggest enemy.

Here’s what American military news site Veterans News has to say:

‘Robert Satloff, a top AIPAC staffer, warns President Obama today that he either abandon negotiations with Iran (and impose new sanctions) or its war. We will know this week if the lobby (using its owned Members of Congress like Sen. Menendez) can succeed in derailing negotiations and achieving war.

America and Israel are in uncharted waters. Just eight months since President Barack Obama visited Israel on the first foreign trip of his second term in an attempt to patch things up with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the two close allies are at odds once again—this time over a proposed “first step” nuclear agreement with Iran. Washington and Jerusalem eventually will find a way to move beyond this titanic clash, but no kiss-and-make-up effort can erase the scars that will be left behind.

The current crisis is already one of the biggest U.S.-Israel blowups, ever—and it could get worse before it gets better.’

It Look As If The Interventionists Will Get Their Global Conflict Wish

By waving through a flotilla of Iranian warships to cross the Suez Canal and dock in Syria in support of the regime, Egypt has signaled the Middle East can never be the same again. Iran, for its part, is sending an important message that neither the heightened standoff with the US nor the avalanche of Israeli threats has succeeded in brow-beating it.
– M K Bhadrakumar (Feb 21, ’12)

Ambassador M K Bhadrakumar was a career diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service. His assignments included the Soviet Union, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Germany, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Turkey

A flotilla of Iranian warships passed unhindered through the Suez Canal and docked at the Syrian port of Tartus last Saturday. Iran’s Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said the mission displays Iran’s “might” despite 30 years of relentless sanctions.

According to press agency sources the flotilla comprised the 18th Fleet of the Iranian navy. The warships will hold exercises and will “train Syrian naval forces under an agreement signed between Tehran and Damascus one year ago”.

The influential cleric and deputy chairman of the Majlis’ (parliament’s” National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Hossein Ebrahimi said:

“The presence of Iran and Russia’s flotillas along the Syrian coasts has a clear message against the United States’ possible adventurism. In case of any US strategic mistake in Syria, there is a possibility that Iran, Russia and a number of other countries will give a crushing response to the US.”

The activities of the Iranian warships at Tartus (which is also used by the Russian navy) will be keenly watched by the regional powers s uch as Turkey, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Unconfirmed reports suggest that veterans of Iran’s Qods Force (a special unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps) might be dispatched to Syria to assist the regime.

Simply put, Iran’s message to Turkey, its Arab allies (which are arming and supporting the Syrian opposition)and their covert supporter, the alleged closet Wahabi Muslim Barack Hussein Obama will be: “Brothers, if you keep fucking with us, we will fuck with you.”

This latest sant off shouls provide much food for thought, particularly for those who protested when Little Nicky Machiavelli conselled a policy of non intervention in the Arab Spring uprising. The United Nations charter does not provide for military campaigns to effect regime change for a very good reason – the new regime can and often does turn out worse than the old. So far we have sen two brutal and repressive secular dictatorships replace by even more brutal and repressive Islamic theocracies that promise to impose Sharia law and yet our leaders, let by the closet Trotskyite Barack Hussein Obama are pushing for the same negative result in Syria. With like our own national leaders the west does not need to antagonise friends like Gadaffi, Mubarak and Assad. The mostly Wahabi (fundamentalist) Arab oil monarchies too, as they gather in Tunis this coming Sunday for the first meeting of the “Friends of Syria” have plenty to think about. Kocking over dictators like Mubarak, Bren Ali and Gaddafi was kids stuff but Syria with Shi’ite Iran pluse self interested Russia and China onside is a different matter.

For Turkey, the Iranian warships have arrived in Syria at a very bad time. The Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz reported that the Syrian army had captured 40 Turkish intelligence officers involved in subversive activities and over the past week Ankara has been “conducting intensive negotiations” with Damascus to secure their freedom. Apart from Turkish forces operating in Syria it is well known that American, British and French special forces are on the ground.

Syria insists in return for the captives’ release, on Turkey ending its role in supplying Syrian rebels with American arms and ceases infiltrations into Syrian teritory. Furthermore, the Assad regime wants Iran to be the mediator.

Ha’aretz noted: Western officials fear that Iranian military presence along with Russian aid could turn Syria into a center of international friction much worse than the struggle inside Syria. They fear that the control over actions in Syria will be taken over by a Russian-Iranian “partnership” which would exclude the European Union and Turkey …

If only someone had had the balls to stand up to that egomaniacal idiot Obama all this could have been bavoided. Now it looks as if one by one, all over the middle east, the lights are going out.

THE THIRD WORLD WAR

A headline in one of today’s papers, over a picture of an overturned and burned out tank in which six U.S. soldiers and an interpreter told us that Iran is orchestrating an offensive aimed at driving the Americans and British out of Iraq.
The story that followed reported that new alliances have been forged between Sunni insurrectionists (they’re not insurgents, OK, they’e bloody insurrectionists) and Shia militia, Al Quaeda terror groups and Syrian geurillas have increased the strike capabilities of the Iraqis.

This is the response to Bush’s surge of course.

Loyal readers of Machiavelli blog will recall we predicted about a year ago that the conflict would escalate towards full scale war in late 2007 or early 2008 as defeat for the religious right in the U.S. Presidential elections started to look certain.

Earlier this year we reported that U.S. and British troops had been carrying out covdert operations inside Iran with the aim of stirring up unrest.

Now our discredited and deluded politicians are trying to fool us by crying foul when the Iranians retaliate.

It is time we took to the streets to put an end to this insanity before we are counting our dead in hundreds rather than tens each week.

The War with Iran has started

An AP report in the Jerusalem Post and elsewhere on Sunday said that Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported Russian intelligence sources as saying the US has devised a plan to attack several targets in Iran, and an assault could be carried out by launching missiles from fighter jets and warships stationed in the Persian Gulf.
Elsewhere in the press you can find (if you look hard enough) confirmation that American and British special forces are operating inside Iran and that right wing terror groups funded from Washington and London are intensifying their terror campaigns with the aim of bringing about regime change.

All of which conforms what Little Nicky Machiavelli was saying back in January.

It’ll all end in tears we predict.

Women In War

Refreshed by a well earned break Little Nicky is back and ready (well more or less) for the rough and tumble.
The issue dominating the news over the weekend has been the story of Faye Turney, the Roal Navy survival specialist taken prisoner and held in Iran and the way she was treated by the Iranians.
This should not raise any issues regarding the attitude of Iran to human rights, after all we all knew what the score was there. But it does raise questions around decisions made by western government, on grounds of political correctness, to put women in front line situations during conflicts abroad.
In an earlier incarnation Little Nicky once made himself very unpopular by suggesting that in forty years, all feminism had achieved was to get women back in coal mines and boxing rings.
“Sexist pig, are you suggesting that women are not as able as men in those situations?” came the comments. Pretty much as anticipated, they missed the point.
Coal mining and boxing are professions that in the past have been known to brutalise people who earn a living from them. What Little Nicky was asking was “is it appropriate to be fighting battles for the right of women to do these things when we should be fighting battles for everybody not to.
Boxing is not necessary to the advancement of human civilisation and coal mining, though necessary, could have been mechanised a lot sooner, freeing miners from backbreaking labour in truly awful conditions.
Women traditionally work for lower pay than men and so the restoration of the right of women to work in mines was a gift to exploitative mine owners.
The decision to put women in the military services into the front line again showed that political correctness induces myopia. This blog would not dream of suggesting that Faye Turney is any less capable at her specialist role than a male officer would be, not that any of the British, American, Canadian or Australian soldiers, sailors and aircrew involved in the current conflicts are not capable of doing their job.
When equality in the military services was granted though, what was overlooked was that in somewhat more than half the world women are still regarded as something less than fully human.
People like Faye Turney and Jessica Lynch are not going to be help by people who will respect them as equals and soldiers but will dismiss them as disobedient and immodest women who refuse to stay at home and obey their husbands or fathers. This would apply not just in the Islamic world but in China too, (and India – though India is not likely to ever be an enemy of the West.) Once women are held captive in a culture in which such attitudes prevail we cannot demand they be treated with due respect. They will simply not be regarded as the equals of their male colleagues.
No matter how wrong this is, it is sadly the reality of the world. And Machiavelli was always a realist.
What it does show however is the absolute folly of our wars and those who got us into them. How can any force be expected to fight an enemy their leaders have not tried to understand?

Dark Forces Are At Work In Downing Street…

Boggart Blog may joke about the dark side of The Force, creatures of the night and all that stuff but we more serious minded folk at Machiavelli know it is dangerous to mock such things. For example, yesterday our colleagues joked about an e-petition on the Downing Street website concerning Jedi Knights and The Force.
Immediately after reading that Little Nicky Machiavelli was gobsmacked to read a serious story revealing that The Traitor Tony Blair has abandoned pretence and gone over to the dark side.
Without informing any of his democratically elected colleagues in the democratically elected government, the Arse Kisser in Chief has been carrying on secret negotiations with the Bush Administration aimed at getting us embroiled in their greatest (and most expensive) lunacy, the Missile Defence Shield (or Son of Star Wars to you and me.)
It may just be coincidence that the Boggart was joking about Star Wars on the day this story broke but we think its a little bit spooky.
That Blair would want to be involved in bestest buddy Georgie’s space game is hardly news, surely there can now be nobody who believes Blair to be “a pretty straight sort of guy” when the accumulated evidence screams he is as bent as a boxing day turd. What we should all be up in arms (forgive the pun) about is that nobody else in the government, not even Prime Minister in Waiting Gordon Brown knew anything about it.
Fortunately, but embarrassingly, it turns out to have been a repetition of “Yo! Blair.” Little Tony begged to be allowed to play with the big boys but was again rebuffed. As a U.S. Embassy spokesman put it, “Right now we are concentrating on The Czech Republic and Poland as the primary sites but there may be opportunities to talk to other nations in the future.”
Ouch!
Although the stated aim of Son Of Star Wars is to negate the threat of a nuclear attack on America from Iran’s missiles (? wot missiles ?) the choice of Poland and the Czech Republic is a bit of a giveaway about the true intent. America’s political right, both the religious and rabid factions, are intent on provoking Russia and re-establishing the cold war, sparking off a new arms race in the process.
What possible reason could there be for this? Well it just so happens that many leaders of the American right have massive business interests in the armaments industry. So where is Blair’s motivation for volunteering Britain as a target for Iran’s non – existent missiles, after all the Americans do not buy military equipment from us? The Russians are our friends and even if Iran was to develop missiles capable of striking Britain or the east coast of America, interceptors launched from here would bring down the nuclear warheads from incoming strikes on friendly nations.
An honest assessment is that neither Britain nor our European partners have anything to gain from this White House madness. So it looks as if the pathetic, shallow, self serving excuse for a human being we call Prime Minister is just so addicted to kissing Bush’s arse he can’t help himself.

Brace Yourselves For The Invasion of Iran.

Sometime early last year Little Nicky made one of Machiavelli blogs famous predictions. (Not all my predictions come true, I just don’t mention the ones that don’t.) In posting here and at Salon.com, Guardian News Blog, Gather.com and other venues I said that with public opinion in the U.S. turning against him, George Bush would delay the war with Iran until after the mid term elections which would go against the republicans. He would then start banging the wardrums and launch the attack in late 2007 or early 2008, providing an excuse to declare a national emergency and suspend the Presidential elections. Well I exaggerated about the last bit to boost readership, its more likely the attack on Iran will be a last desperate gamble to swing America behind the war and ensure a republican succession.
But most of it I stand by.
There follows the opening paragraph of an article written by Dan Plesch, an expert on Middle Eastern politics. It appeared in today’s newspaper.
“The evidence is building up that President Bush plans to add war in Iran to his triumphs in Iraq and Afghanistan – and there is every sign, to judge by his warmongering speech in Plymouth last Friday that Tony Blair would be keen to join in if he were still in a position to commit British forces to the field.”

And another point of view
Double brace yourselves folks because I now predict that Blair will now delay his resignation until after the invasion of Iran in order to gamble on being asked to stay on rather than “destabilise the government in a time of crisis.” After all a change of leadership in such circumstances would be bad for morale. Wouldn’t it?

Power is a very seductive mistress, especially to those with a messianic self image.
