The Real Unemployment Problem

New unemployment figures released yesterday show unemployment fell by 0.1% in the three months December to FebruarY. Contained in the figures was a statistic that undermines government talk of an economic upturn. This is the number of people in work. Headline unemployment has fallen the number of people in work has also fallen. What’s going on?

    1. Yeah, there are all sorts of nasties like that ben slipped in. My son is in the same boat. He wants to move in with his girlfriend but he’s working though low paid and she’s a single mum so living together is just not viable for them.

      Looks like we’re stuck with him.

      But there are many couples in that position. And the politicians have the nerve to preach about family values.
